About the event

Do you dread the arrival of autumn? Do colds and allergies take over your life this time of year? Does every cold hang on and/or turn into something worse? According to Yoga and Ayurveda these are signs that your immune system needs more support.

Unfortunately, many of us feel utterly helpless when it comes to changing our cold and allergy experience. Autumn is an especially poignant time to explore the Ayurvedic approach to colds and allergies. There are a number of effective ways to support your immune system to find some much deserved cold and allergy relief.

According to Ayurveda, an allergy is the result of a particular substance (the allergen) aggravating a specific dosha (body type). Therefore, Ayurveda classifies allergies according to dosha.

This workshop will focus on the imbalances of the Vata Dosha-Season (Autumn-Early Winter). These imbalances are often experienced in the digestive tract with a myriad of digestive discomforts. They can also include symptoms of constriction such as wheezing or headache, as well as sneezing, ringing in the ears, joint pain, sciatica, muscle twitching or spasms, insomnia, nightmares, and other vata-type discomforts. This can manifest into a feeling of being cold to the bone. Even getting sick often and/or that nagging cold-cough that just won’t go away.

Ayurveda is a simple holistic approach that focuses on feeling healthy and balanced. The habits of Ayurveda are easy to follow, very doable and incredibly effective over time. They create a platform to build a deeper awareness of your body and reclaim a vibrant sense of health and well-being.

Come prepared to listen, take notes, and enjoy a short yoga and breath practice. We will introduce you to Ayurveda, it's basic principles, daily routines and food habits to support your immune system. Our focus will be on the characteristics of the Vata Dosha and Seasonal Support to keep you warm, balanced and strong. Ayurveda believes that maintaining consistent daily routines is the springboard for optimal energy, health, and self-healing.
